Your captions stay in this browser. No upload, account, or subscription needed.
The format is the easy part.
SRT files mix spoken text with cue numbers and time ranges. A plain-text export removes that structure and places a blank line between cues, making the words easier to read or reuse in a document. Conversion happens on your device; it does not upload your caption file or consume transcription minutes.
How it works
- Paste SRT captions or choose an .srt file up to 500 KB.
- Keep TXT selected, convert, and review the words in the output preview.
- Download the .txt file for notes, search, or a writing draft. Keep the original subtitle file if you still need its timing.
A small example
Illustrative captions before and after conversion.
1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:02,000 Keep the words. 2 00:00:02,000 --> 00:00:04,500 Review before sharing.
Keep the words. Review before sharing.
A few things to know
TXT does not retain subtitle timing or styling and cannot replace a timed caption track. This tool does not transcribe audio, translate, summarize, remove repeated speech, or repair caption wording. Review the exported text before sharing it.
Common questions
Does SRT to TXT remove subtitle timestamps?
Yes. TXT contains the text of each cue in order, separated by blank lines. Cue numbers and start/end timestamps are left out.
Can I turn the TXT file back into subtitles?
The timing cannot be recovered from plain text alone. Keep your original SRT or VTT file for subtitle editing and format conversion.
