FREE SUBTITLE CONVERTER

Convert VTT to SRT. Ready for your editor.

A small tool. One less task. Runs in your browser

Your captions stay in this browser. No upload, account, or subscription needed.

The format is the easy part.

Use SRT when your editing or publishing tool accepts SubRip captions instead of WebVTT. The converter removes the WEBVTT header, numbers each subtitle cue, and writes comma-separated milliseconds. Your spoken text and its start and end times remain together, while web-specific presentation settings are removed.

How it works

  1. Paste captions beginning with WEBVTT or choose a .vtt file smaller than 500 KB.
  2. Leave SRT selected and convert the file into numbered subtitle cues.
  3. Download the .srt file, import it into your editor, and preview the first and final cues.

A few things to know

WebVTT can describe cue positions, regions, and styling that this SRT export does not preserve. Check the converted subtitles in their destination, especially if layout matters. The converter does not burn subtitles into a video, translate the text, or repair incorrect timestamps.

Common questions

What happens to WebVTT cue settings?

This converter removes cue positioning, styling, comments, and region information. Review the destination player if you rely on a particular caption layout.

Does it add captions permanently to the video?

No. The result is a separate SRT subtitle file. Use a compatible video editor if you want to burn captions into the picture.
